First established in 1970, PGMA (Scotland) Ltd was the Scottish arm of the Private Grocers Merchandising Association. Set up to support independent retailers and emerging symbol groups members of the Scottish Grocers Federation. First set up as a direct shipment arrangement, collective buying agreements were established with all the major local and national suppliers providing the best buying terms and deals available to all its retailers. Follow several years of success the Scottish Grocers Federation took over ownership and responsibility for PGMA (Scotland) Ltd in 1977 we have been supporting independent retailers with their buying needs ever since.
Over the years the role of PGMA has evolved to meet the needs of independent retailers, initially through direct shipment arrangements, managing PLOF’s and creating promotions, through to today where we can now offer retailers direct access to a store delivered range of approximately 14,000 lines covering all retail categories. An exceptional branded offer and the best own label brand range, direct from the Coop.
If it is not in the core range then one of our over 200 Direct to Store suppliers will certainly be able to provide it. If you need it to stock or operate your convenience store then PGMA can supply it. That was our aim back in 1970 and it is still our drive and motivation today to bring CONVENIENCE TO INDEPENDENT RETAILERS.
Always looking to improve our offer, in 2021 we negotiated the rights for our retailers to have the option to use the long-established MACE facia, providing an identity and kerb appeal whilst allowing them to still operate truly independently. We will continue to look for further opportunities to further enhance our offer to support independent retailers with their daily challenge, to run profitable and successful businesses whilst providing essential services to their communities.
